Fascinated by rebellious German author and director Rainer Werner Fassbinder and working as production manager for Erwin C. Dietrich (SHE DEVILS OF THE SS, CHAMPAGNE FÜR ZIMMER 17, CAGED WOMEN), Paul Grau began his career in the film business. As a music video producer, including for Swiss hard rock pioneers Krokus, Paul Grau continued to develop until he made his first (and unfortunately only) feature film in 1981 with MAD FOXES as producer and director. MAD FOXES, also known as STINGRAY 2, was created under bizarre circumstances and in a short period of time that seems unimaginable today.
Why the film was particularly successful in Germany and was banned from cinemas at the same time, about its creation, the controversy it sparked and whether he himself sees it as a cult classic, we find out in an exclusive discussion before the film screening. After that, we can experience the film in fantastic Full HD quality from the original film master — as you have (unfortunately) barely seen it in the cinema.
