Covid update #346

Nerve-wracking excitement even outside the movie theater. Anyone following the current status of Covid restrictions has noticed that restaurants, concert halls and even movie theaters must remain closed. But for how much longer?

Because horror film freaks are generally sun-tempered, we rate the Federal Council's decision as positive. Information about easing will be announced next time on April 14, 2021. With a bit of luck and perhaps even declining infection figures, opening movie theaters could be realistic. However, it is not only the opening that is decisive, but also the associated restrictions. Prohibiting consumption in the auditorium or other conditions that deprive you of the joy of cinema pleasure would not be an option for us.

In order to increase the chances of successful implementation, we have therefore decided to define a provisional alternative date. If it is not possible to open in April, the event will take place from May 27 to 29, 2021.

Can the situation even improve within a month? We don't know. However, moving the festival to an even later date presents us with major problems. July belongs to NIFFF — and we don't want to compete with that, be there much more! What we hope will be a nice summer will follow and we are convinced that, due to home office obligations and many other restrictions, no one wants to spend the beautiful summer days in the cinema hall. By autumn at the latest, a large part of our hard-won film pearls will no longer be up to date and the search would start from the beginning. A huge expense that we will probably no longer be able to cover.

What does that mean for you now? Nothing for now — just keep your fingers crossed and stay healthy. Do you already have tickets and the event is being postponed? No problem: your tickets remain valid even for the new date. Alternatively, tickets can also be returned if they are moved. It's a matter of honor!
