On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, the friendly “Welcome Maniacs” will once again be flickering across the screen. For four days, the genre film is celebrated in Brugg. Fantastic Horror and Beyond is the motto. It offers the most varied program to date, with around 45 films. In addition to a variety of exclusive Swiss premieres, an extensive retrospective will be shown. The “Season Special” was newly established. A special category in which five thematically appropriate films are shown.

For friends of classic horror, Evil Dead Rise should be the big highlight. Evil Dead Rise is the long-awaited sequel to Sam Raimi's cult horror trilogy about Dance of the Devil, Dance of the Devil 2 and Army of Darkness. The film was produced by Sam Raimi himself and Bruce Campell, the main actor of the original Evil Dead trilogy. It was directed by Lee Cronin, who has already created a gripping horror film in 2019 with The Hole In The Ground.

After the great success of the Taiwanese film The Sadness, which impressed the BRUGGGORE audience in 2022, we are once again able to show a blockbuster from Asia this year. Project Wolf Hunting is once again brutal and bloody when a transport of prisoners on a ship completely gets out of hand.

In 2023, the “Eye of the Beholder” award will be presented for the second time. The Audience Award is endowed with CHF 5,000. Five films from the Official Competition are available. These, together with the rest of the program, will be published in mid-March. Other highlights will be exclusive live broadcasts with the directors and filmmakers of the competition.

The festival is supported by Swisslos Fund Canton Aargau, the City of Brugg and Polymorph Pictures.

The festival passes are already available. The 4-day festival pass costs CHF 133.-. Day passes for Wednesday/Thursday, Friday or Saturday cost CHF 66.- each. Special packages including hotel accommodation at Centurion Tower Hotel Brugg are also available for film fanatics.
