On Saturday at 22:00, the first “Eye of the Beholder” award will be presented in front of an enthusiastic audience during the Official Competition awards ceremony. The audience prize of the BRUGGGORE Horror Movie Festival goes to the Hungarian director with prize money of CHF 5,000 Peter Bergendy and his movie Post Mortem.

The winning film Post Mortem impressed the visitors and achieved a rating of 7.4 out of 10 points. In the cold winter of 1918, photographer Tomás moved to a small Hungarian village where he was hired as a dead photographer. Eerie things soon start happening and mysterious shadowy figures appear in his photos. Tomás must face the supernatural threat and also confront ghosts from his past.

Director provided an unexpected surprise Kevin Kopacka and producer and author Lili Villanyi. Together, they have traveled from Berlin to produce their film on site Dawn Breaks Behind the Eyes to promote. Live in the cinema hall were also Perry Blackshear, director of When I Consume You, Johannes Grenzfurthner, creator of Masking Treshold as well as Emily Bennet and Justin Brooks, the directors and authors of Alone With You. Presenter and festival jury member Alex Büche hosted and accompanied the films of the Official Competition, thus creating a festival feeling.

“With the second edition of the festival, we have achieved another milestone and established our festival prize. Even though Brugggore is still young, we are already on the international radar when it comes to fantastic films and horror films. In 2023, a second hall will be added with the Odeon cinema and the program can once again be significantly expanded and expanded.” Michel Frutig, festival director

In addition to visitors from the region, there have also been many guests from all over Switzerland. The German-speaking Switzerland premiere of the Taiwanese film ensured the highest number of visitors The Sadness, followed closely by the Swiss premieres of Dark Glasses and Crabs. With 423 tickets sold, Saturday was the most successful day.

“We are extremely satisfied with the number of visitors. Especially in view of the great weather and the currently rather poor cinema attendance figures, such a success is particularly gratifying.” Stephan Filati, co-organizer and operator of Cinema Excelsior Brugg

The third edition of the BRUGGGORE Horror Movie Festival will once again take place in Brugg from April 26 to 29, 2023.
