An ode to the living-impaired

We Are Zombies

Official Competition
Q&A with directors and producers François Simard, Ankouk Whissell, Yoann-Karl Whissell after the presentation on 26.04

Let's imagine: In 2064, humanity coexists with zombies. They don't need human rights, can be exploited as free workers, but they are also becoming more and more and not everyone likes that. A mega corporation graciously takes care of family members who have become zombies in order to use them in research. The ideal business model for three former Group employees: They snatch the ex-residents away from the Group and sell them for other purposes. But such a crook cannot go well forever...

WE ARE ZOMBIES is the third feature film by the directing trio RKSS (Roadkill Superstars), in particular François Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell. With TURBO KID and SUMMER OF 84, the three have already presented steeply and delighted genre fans all over the world. They remain true to their concept. The heroines and heroes are young, likeable underdogs and they must defend themselves against overwhelming powers. A lot of fake blood flows and horror hearts are delighted with handmade effects and cinematic retro charm.

WE ARE ZOMBIES is part of our Official Competition. Vote at the festival and decide which of five films receives the “Eye of the Beholder” award. You will receive the voting cards before the performance. The grand awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, takes place at 8:30pm at Cinema Excelsior.
