With the werewolf double pack AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON and HOWLING II, it's time for the last double fearture before the summer break. Real BRUGGGORE fanboys and girls know it, of course: instead of a double fear, four days of “fantastic horror and beyond” await you at the fourth BRUGGGORE film festival at the end of April.

Punctually at 12:00 noon, we start with AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON and thus our first full moon homage. In his career, director John Landis has sent blues brothers on tour, shrunk children and directed the music video for Michael Jackson's thriller. So you can imagine that his interpretation of the werewolf subgenre has more comedic traits. Despite its humorous undertone, the film delivers considerable practical effects and perhaps the most beautiful neck and head wound in werewolf history.

HOWLING II It has the subtitle “... Your Sister Is a Werewolf” and scores an impressive 3.7 out of 10 on IMDB (as of January 13, 2024). Wikipedia also claims that actor Christopher Lee met Joe Dante, the director of the first HOWLING, for the bad sequel apologized. Critics also read “One of the Worst Sequels in Horror History and Probably One of the Worst Movies Ever Made.” So the question is: Is it all true? We say no and celebrate HOWLING II as the hairiest party grenade of the year. There's really no way to verify it: but it could be the first ever cinema screening of the film in Switzerland!
