Brian Yuzna forever

Horror legend Brian Yuzna (SOCIETY, BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR, THE DENTIST and many more) was born in Manila, Philippines, on August 30, 1949. It is absolutely logical that we are organizing a Double Fearture in his honor in Brugg, Switzerland, on February 22, 2025. The film selection is similarly indiscriminate. After all, FAUST and RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD are 3 films by him — and both are somehow chronically underrated.

‍FAUST: LOVE OF THE DAMNED is one of those early 2000s horror films that still honored the old-school effects craft. A man sells his soul to the devil and receives a few superpowers in return. He uses them to avenge the murder of his girlfriend. Well, as is the case with such interactions with the person in person, there is a snag. The prize is in fact the soul of his new love and so he decides to oppose the devil. Of course, re-animator Jeffrey Combs should not be missing from the cast!

‍RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD III Can also do the trick with the practical effects damn well. Here, too, a supposedly good idea tends to end in a bad way. A desperate teenager resuscitates his deceased biker bride using chemicals from a top-secret government experiment. The splatter fun starts when the regenerated girlfriend discovers her bloodlust and thus turns others into zombies in rows. There is a seal of approval for this from the Federal Department of Interiors.
