The Movie with the 1000 Names

Zombi Holocaust

In a hospital in New York, mysterious incidents are piling up in which body parts or organs disappear. Clinic manager Dr. Dreylock and FBI agent Dr. Peter Chandler want to get to the bottom of the incidents and team up with colleague George and his girlfriend, reporter Susan Kelly. A mystical symbol and the last words of a perpetrator put them on the right track. “Kito, Kito ordered it,” he screams before he throws himself spectacularly out of the window. They travel to the Molucca island of Kito in Southeast Asia, where they meet the scientist O'Brian, unfriendly natives and O'Brian's creations.

ZOMBI HOLOCAUST (released in Germany as ZOMBIES AMONG CANNIBALS — thanks for the spoiler!) combines the two favorite horror themes of the 80s in an exploitation film that today enjoys cult status. Despite a very small budget, Marino Girolami manages to inspire lovers of cannibal films with explicit gore effects. But it could also be the classic movie with the most alternative titles. Creations such as DOCTOR BUTCHER M.D., ISLAND OF THE LAST ZOMBIES, MEDICAL DEVIATE, QUEEN OF THE CANNIBALS, ZOMBIE 3, ZOMBIE DEATH CULT, ZOMBIE INFERNO, ZOMBIE CANNIBALS or ZOMBIES — CANNIBAL FEROX was found on VHS covers and movie posters as well as on the countless DVD and Bluray versions.

Note that there was so little budget available that, in addition to inappropriate latex applications, the zombies were simply lubricated with clay which immediately dried and crumbled in the sweltering heat of Asia. And the zombie was ready.
