There's something fishy in the Han river

The Host

Season Special: Nature's Tipping Point

You just carelessly dispose of a few chemicals in the Han River and suddenly you're dealing with a huge monster! Without further ado, Fiech kidnaps the daughter of a good-not-father who has to go on a rescue mission with his family. This is not only a competition against time, but also against the authorities, who are only too happy to stand in the way.

Korean director and Oscar winner Bong Joon Ho (PARASITE) also knows blockbuster horror. But not without leaving behind his clear signature. Here, too, serious social topics merge with humorous dialogues, while offering the best monster cinema.

We do not (yet) know whether chemicals in water cause monstrous mutations in real life. It is obvious, however, that the real victims will once again be those who cannot import their water from Fiji or Norway.

Beware! [Substance Abuse] [Self-harm]

It is the year of rediscoveries. In addition to THE HAPPENING, THE HOST also did terribly poorly when I saw him for the first time back then. But Bong Joon Ho's unmistakable style makes this cheerful monster film a consistently entertaining screen spectacle. If you want to get involved in sprawling dialogue and noodle soup.
