Can I suck your blood, please?

Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person

Season Special: Celebrating the Underdog

When we worked out the theme for the 2024 season special, we had no idea that a film called HUMANIST VAMPIRE SEEKING CONSENTING SUICIDAL PERSON would be released. A young vampire who, for humanitarian reasons, does not want to suck people out without their consent. This is likely to make her the only one ever — alone in a world that has completely different plans for her. Because perfidiously enough, she can't even survive without human blood.

Canadian director Ariane Louis-Seize's feature film debut is currently being showered with awards all over the world. The wonderfully sensitive vampire comedy goes to the heart and impresses with endearing characters and fantastic staging.

French cinema made in Canada, as wonderfully affectionate and endearing as I otherwise only know it from Jeunet and Caro. The feature film debut by Ariane Louis-Seize enchants from the very first minute. Cinema for the heart, even for hard-boiled horror maniacs like me.
