‍A young woman with amnesia goes in search of her missing lover and uncovers more and more parts of her forgotten past.

ALUCINA (FISHGIRL), the film contribution from Ecuador, reveals a moving, dramatic story and mixes dream-like images with earthly reality. The dream ideas of Alucina, the fishgirl, are cleverly brought to life and thus give the film a surreal touch. A clear recommendation even for non-horror fans.

I'm a softie. I'll admit it. Even with AMÉLIE, a tear rolls out of my eye every time. Comparing ALUCINA with AMELIE would certainly be misleading. Nevertheless, the protagonist's fantastic imagination reminds me of the masterpiece by Jeunet e Caro. But with a much darker undertone.
