Between Soccer, Shocker and Fiction

1978

While Argentina became soccer world champion in 1978, the military dictatorship in the country is waging a brutal war against the communist opposition. Kidnappings, torture and executions in secret camps are among the instruments of political power. While the world gazes spellbound at a black and white football, atrocities happen in secret.

Starting in 1978, the brothers Luciano and Nicolás Onetti are dealing with a dark chapter of Argentinean history and in doing so also make use of fictional, supernatural stylistic elements. A movie for everyone who likes the harder horror pace. Dark, evil, bloody and with a surprising twist.

Beware! [Sexual Assault] [Self-harm]

The mixing of real historical backgrounds with fictional elements, regardless of whether it is the atrocities of the Holocaust or the crimes of a military dictatorship in Argentina, can quickly be irritating. Is this kind of crime allowed to be stylized, or is it disrespectful to the victims? Personally, I am of the opinion that ANY form of art is allowed to keep the memory of past horrors alive. People forget far too quickly. Today we are seeing this frighteningly clearly again.
